Reborn Nursery: How To Set It Up Properly?

While most people say that reborn dolls are not real babies and they don’t require that much attention, they do require some free space in your home.

Reborn baby dolls can easily be damaged either by lack of care or by children and pets. The best thing you can do is to find a room (preferably one that can be locked) where you will keep all your reborn babies. However, if you wish to go a step further, you can turn this simple room into a beautiful reborn nursery.

Finding space

First of all, most people will not have an empty room to store reborn dolls. This is especially true if you’re new to dolls and reborn dolls as most of the rooms in your house are probably full of different items and furniture. But it is still possible to set up a nursery for reborn dolls with minimal space available.

Guest room (or some other rarely used room) can offer the space you need.

Please have in mind that you should avoid certain spaces; high humidity or too much sunlight can ruin the skin of your most precious baby doll.

It’s also necessary to assess the size of the nursery. Will you adopt another baby girl, a boy toddler or perhaps twins? Will you add some more items to it? Planning the necessary space is really important as most women like to make changes and add more items to their nurseries. While there is always an option of changing the room in the near future, you need to be realistic regarding your own space requirement.

Choosing the right color

Painting the room is not necessary but it is a sign of dedication that will pay off big time once everything is finished.

Like with any baby nursery, ideal colors are baby blue, pink, soft yellow or brown. They are rooted in our brain as relaxing colors. Each one of these can work depending on how much light the room is getting and as well as colors of other items and furniture you’re going to introduce afterward.

Once the room is painted, you are ready to add items.

Adding furniture and items

Once you’ve created the proper basis, it’s time to add furniture.

Best way to start is by choosing a big, focal piece. This can either be a bed or a baby crib. From here on out, you add all other pieces. You probably already have something in your mind at this point.

Make sure that the crib is facing the door so that people notice the dolls once they step into the room. You can either put reborns in a sleeping or an awake position; it’s up to you.

Here are some other items you might consider adding:

  • Rocking chair
  • Trunks
  • Daybeds
  • Additional clothes, stuffed animals, blankets, children books
  • Photos etc.

Great ideas are born from improvisation. While you can take my advice and add some of these things, make sure to leave your personal stamp. In the end, these are your baby dolls!

Last thoughts

Reborning is an art form that has its price. When modifying reborn doll kits, a reborn artist will sculpt life from inanimate objects. She will mix vinyl body with head, arms, hair (or mohair), eyes and other supplies to create a quality custom masterpiece.

Some people will not see eye to eye with you when it comes to having a nursery. However, this doesn’t diminish the fact that these dolls are amazing and require personal space.
